The AC Frua or AC 428 is a British GT built by AC Cars from 1965 to 1973. Production was 81 cars built in total: 49 coupés (known as fastbacks), 29 convertibles, and 3 special bodied. History The Frua is built on an AC Cobra 427 Mark III chassis extended by 6 inches (150 mm).

A steel strike in Italy in 1969 and into '70 meant delivery dates became something of a lottery. On occasion, AC completed two cars in the same week, but this was the exception rather than the rule. AC 428 1969 Convertible. Built on a chassis adapted from the AC 428 Cobra and powered by the same 7-litre Ford V8. AC 428. A 7-litre Ford V8 gave either 345bhp or 385bhp. AC 428 1969 Convertible. This 1968 AC 428 is only the second one we've ever seen for sale in the USA. It looks to be in very clean condition, and is said to have matching numbers but a color change from blue in 1989. AC Cars produced only 81 428 Frua's of which only 29 were convertibles . Built on a similar chassis as the 427 cobra . In fact the rolling chassis was sent to Turin Italy for the bodies to be fabricated in steel and returned to AC Cars for painting , trimming etc . This particular car in its stunning original colour of metallic Live Oak , shows.
AC 428 Frua Coupe 50 to 70
Detailing This car, Lot 67, sold for $110,000 at Worldwide Auctions sale at Auburn, IN, on September 2, 2011. This is one of only seven 428 coupes produced in 1971 (though described in the catalog as a 1968 car), and it's right-hand drive — left-handers' chassis numbers are preceded by CFX.
